翅片管又稱擴展表面管,可以有殼體也可以沒有,翅片管是在原有的管子表面上,不論外表面還是內表面加工上了很多翅片,使原有的表面得到擴展,而形成一種獨特的傳熱元件。翅片管在動力、化工、制冷等工業中有廣泛的應用,主要應用于空氣冷卻器,能減輕工業缺水及工業用水的環境污染問題,傳熱強化方面使得低肋螺紋管及微細肋管等在蒸發、冷凝方面的相變換熱得到廣泛應用。由多支翅片管按一定規律排列起來而組成的換熱單元叫翅片管束。一個翅片管換熱器可以由一個或多個翅片管束組成,對翅片管束了解有助于翅片管換熱器的應用。

管束是空冷器中主要部分,由翅片管、管箱和框架組成,是一個獨立的結構整體,它的基本參數有管束型式通常指水平式、斜頂式等;工作壓力和溫度、翅片管型式和規格;管箱型式、管束長度和寬度、管排數、管程數等。
